Cercotrichas podobe
Long-legged scrub-robin with long, graduated and usually high-cocked tail. Predominantly black or greyish black, with some white on vent and under the tail. About 20 cm long, with red eye.
Black scrub-robin is found in North Africa, Sahel and Arabian peninsula, in dry savanna. In this spotting, seen on shores of White Nile, in Jebel Aulia region in a campsite near the dam. While we lived in Khartoum, we used to spend our weekends in this place, the "Escape" campsite, on shores of White Nile. This placed and its neighborhood, laced with acacia and other semi-arid region's vegetation, proved to be a bird-watcher paradise...
Apparently, I need to revise my taxonomy... last time I checked, the Black scrub-robin belonged to family Turdidae (Thrushes); now, it seems to be included in Muscicapidae (flycatchers)...
