Ribbons mushroom

Cortinarius vinaceolamellatus

Description:

A quite large, solitary mushroom with dirty, yellowish and slimy top, some scaling, approx 180mm across the cap, flat cap with rolled margin, both stipe and 'gills' were a real surprise... both seemed like flattened ribbons. Stipe and gills did not seem to be decurrent at all and were different colours (white and yellow). The stipe was so flat it seemed to have buckled under the load.

Habitat:

On a median strip outside a hospital, on a very busy highway, among gum and other assorted native plants.

Notes:

Maybe the 'ribbons' underneath are really unopened cortina?? ID tentative... refer this spotting http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/120...
