Egretta caerulea
The little blue heron is a small heron. It breeds in the Gulf states of the United States, through Central America and the Caribbean south to Peru and Uruguay. The adult little blue heron is slate-blue and the immature is white. The adult little blue heron has a purplish to maroon-brown head and neck and a small white patch on the throat and upper-neck. Has grayish/green legs and feet. The little blue heron is solitary most of the year except during breeding season.
This little blue heron was spotted along the edge of a small pond near the bird blind at Crooked River State Park, St Marys, Georgia.
