Suillus

Description:

Suillus mushrooms growing in a ring/patch gregariously. Caps are sticky and colored pale brown to cinnamon--with a convex to wavy shape. Pore surfaces are gold, darkening with age and damage. The layer between the golden brown flesh and pores stains nearly black (dark blue) when cut/damaged. There is a white veil over pores on younger specimens. Stipes are very short, golden brown, and covered in glandular dots. Gelatinous brown annuli are present on some older specimens. Spore print is dark cinnamon brown. There is a mild, slightly sour taste to the slime/veil.

Habitat:

Growing gregariously under pines in a public park in Northwest Georgia (Floyd County)
