Mealy Rosette Lichen

Physcia millegrana

Description:

Physcia is a genus of lichenized fungi in the family Physciaceae. According to a 2008 estimate, the widespread genus contains 73 species. This lichen was growing on granite outcrops in natural bushland setting. It's common to see lichen growing on granite, but I've not seen one like this before. Small dark 'mushroom-like' growths are apparently fruiting bodies.

Habitat:

Found amongst eucapypts in natural, dry bush setting.
