A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Larus delawarensis
Adults are about 19 inches long with a four-foot wingspan. They get their name from the ring on the end of the bill. Otherwise the back is a very light gray, wings are tipped in black, undersides are white.
They tend to nest near lakes and rivers or along the coast of Canada and the United States. They tend to move south to the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of North America and the Great Lakes to winter.
