The two species look very alike but I agree this seems closer to the photo of H. ester, which also appears to be slightly more common in this area.

Hmm, after another look I think this may be Hypagyrtis esther. Hypagyrtis unipunctata seems to have a more mottled look. Have a look at the following, http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.ed... and http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.ed... and see what you think.

Similar to Hypagyrtis esther but I think the overall colouration makes this unipunctata. Nice photograph!
