Noctuid Moth

Phlogophora indica

Description:

Shades of pale brown and dark brown with golden bands and a large luna-moth shaped maroon patch on the back.

Habitat:

Resting quietly on the bamboo walls of a cottage at Village Kolakham; a remote, forested area situated at an altitude of 1868m in the Kalimpong Hills of Darjeeling District, on the fringes of Neora Valley National Park.

Notes:

Low light photography is not always very sharp but most moths vanished at dawn.
