Treron vernans
Medium sized green pigeon (27cm). Males (shown) have a soft blue/grey head, pink neck and large orange patch on the breast. In flight has black flight feathers, a sub terminal band on the tail (diagnostic for green pigeons in Singapore) and chestnut under-tail coverts. Females are more or less green all over.
Most common of the green pigeons in Singapore. This one photographed from the Jelutong Tower in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve.
Although common, this very colourful and engaging species are a delight to watch up in the canopy.
