Tropical Tiger Moth

Asota caricae

Description:

Modestly large moth. Greyish body with prominent venation pattern. One largish white dot each on the middle of the two wings. Head yellow with black dots.

Habitat:

Was watering the plants in the morning... guess I gave it a bath as well. But it stuck around to allow me to go back, get the camera and take a few shots.

Notes:

Common name source:http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:biodiversity.org.au:afd.taxon:25fd8cce-6eb0-4ab6-8c9a-c51ac3e36e5d I'd have called it Papaya moth (Caricae) I do have fruiting papaya plants in my backyard but this is the first time I have seen this moth.
