Shikra

Accipiter badius

Description:

The recall the guide said he thought it was a Shikra or Besra but the darkness of the wings and head are also suggestive of a Sparrowhawk (A. nisus) which had been recorded there just once in 1999. The narrow tight bands on the breast would rule out Besra.

Habitat:

Small wood.
