Hairy Mary Moth

Anthela varia

Habitat:

Suburban garden, at night, in area serviced by beaches, remnant coastal woodland, swamp, farms and rainforests

Notes:

This moth played dead by falling backwards off the twig into the container and did not move again until after the photography when it was lifted out of the container with a palette knife and placed back on the twig. Quite common behaviour with Anthelids The colours are accurate.
