Cinnyris mariquensis
drab female Marico Sunbird feeding her fostered juvenile Diderick Cuckoo
well wooded, large garden in semi arid savannah
The Sunbirds had to work very hard to satisfy their juveniles hunger. The cuckoo spent much of the day sitting on concealed branches within the canopy calling with a plaintive whistle for more food. Diderick Cuckoos do not usually parasitize Sunbird nests rather they tend to go for Weaver nests
