Great egret in breeding plumage

Description:

This beautiful great egret was spotted in Avery Island's Bird City in the southeast corner of Jungle Gardens. Bamboo structures were built in the 1800s for egrets who were facing extinction. Now, they number in the thousands. It was an amazing spotting to see this egret in full breeding plumage building its nest.
