Contopus cooperi
I am identifying this spotting as a olive-sided flycatcher. The Olive-sided Flycatcher is one of the most recognizable inhabitants of North America’s coniferous forest, breeding from sea level to 3,350 m in the Rocky Mountains. They prey almost exclusively on flying insects, especially bees. It has dark sides bordering a white hourglass on its breast; markings that make the bird look as if it is wearing a vest. It is a bulky flycatcher, with a relatively short tail and large head.
This olive-sided flycatcher was spotted sitting in a tree in a campground in buffalo, Wyoming.
