I'm sorry, Leanne, but I'm 4 years late. I've just spotted a very similar species and a contradiction between website (which I have anguished over), but I think your spotting is the Large-eyed Box-Owlet (Grammodes ocellata)... http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au... Note the round eyespots and absence of the submarginal band on the forewing. I hope all is well for you during these current, crazy events.

It's super dry at the moment Mark, only a shower or two in many months.
