Brackets ranging from ca. 6-7 inches down to ca. 2 inches wide. Brackets showing concentric zones of cream and browns. Occurring singly or in groups; when in groups some brackets fused to others above/below. Some have very short stalk. Fresh brackets flexible.]; dry; lumpy; margin rounded. Underside: Pores, round, 1-2/mm; white (browns when picked); 4-5 mm deep. Flesh. White.
Growing on the NE- and NW-facing sides of a Water Oak (Quercus nigra) log in an open field. The log had been sitting in the field for three years before these brackets appeared.
