Little Egret

Egretta garzetta

Description:

This little egret is about 24" in size. The great egret is 39", whereas the snowy egret is also 24" in size. Resembles the snowy egret but the little egret has a longer neck, thicker bill and legs, grayish lores and in breeding season two long tapering plumes on back.

Habitat:

This white little egret was spotted in the Gulf of Mexico near shore at Pascagola, Mississippi.
