Beautiful Sunbird / Souimanga à longue queue

Cinnyris pulchellus

Description:

Very small passerine bird (~10cm), with medium-sized, down-curved black bill. The adult male is mainly glossy green with yellow flanks and a crimson breast band. He has long tail streamers (~5cm). The female is greenish-brown above and yellowish below (picture #4).

Habitat:

Feeding on nectar, usually perching and not hovering like a hummingbird. common breeder in sub-Saharan tropical Africa. These one were spotted on the fringes of the Saloum Delta National Park.
