Autumn Gum Moth caterpillar

Mnesampela privata

Description:

about 1 cm green caterpillar in large numbers

Habitat:

on a sapling which was also under heavy predation by several other species. In a disturbed and trafficked position by a path in a woodland used to screen an oval. Eucalypt

Notes:

I believe this a species of leaf skeletonising caterpillar (The spell check has failed me again. Taken at night using a torch for light and a Fuji 4250. Thanks to Martini (Project Noah) for the identification

Thanks Martini. The images were shot in May which is about right. Very nice to have it identified

Hi Stephen. I suspect the autumn gum moth notwithstanding that it is spring,
The two dots on its back lead me to this conclusion and I assume it is definitive.
