Prairie Rattlesnake

Crotalus viridis

Description:

They are light brown all over with darker brown circular blotches down the back. The number of segments on the rattle indicates how many times the snake has shed. He really liked to stick his tongue out and "smell" us, as you can see :)

Habitat:

As their name states, they are found in prairie habitats. This guy was found cruising a grass pasture.
