Green Looper

Chrysodeixis eriosoma

Description:

A beautiful moth with a wing span of 30 mm. Wings had shades of green, purple and brown in a background of shimmering gold. Each fore wing showed a white "8" shaped mark with a narrow separation in the middle.
The thorax showed wedge-shaped tufts of brown setae. Paler tufts seen along the dorsal aspect of the abdomen. Smaller Tufts of brown setae . Antennae were thin and about half the body length.

Habitat:

Spotted under brights lights in a suburban area

Notes:

Larvae of these moths are green with faint white stripes and small black spots along the sides. They feed on plants of several species (ornamentals). Hence are seen as a pest in gardens. Family:Noctuidae Subfamily: Plusiinae
