Ardea herodias
A large heron. The head, chest, and wing plumes give it a shaggy appearance. They appear blue-gray from a distance. They have long legs, a thick, daggerlike bill and black stripe over their eye.
Another check on the nesting herons in a city park. Starting to see the parents feeding the babies, but they are not big enough to be seen.
