Tubaria

Tubaria rufofulva

Description:

Deep red or maroon caps about 40 mm wide, hygrophanous and delicate. Gills were of similar colour and had a beautiful crepe-like texture. Delicate fibrils were seen crisscrossing the gills from the margins (Pic 5). The stipe was the same colour as the cap and gills becoming slightly paler towards the cap. Some hyphae seen at teh base of the stipe.

Habitat:

Spotted growing on a damp decaying eucalyptus log.

Notes:

The colour of this mushroom was impressive - maroon over-all ! The fibrils stringing-out from the cap margin is said to be a distinctive feature of this species.
