A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Macaca fascicularis
Males are larger than females, weighing 5-9 kilograms (11-20 lb) compared to the 3–6 kg (7-13 lb) of females. The tail is longer than the body, typically 40–65 cm (16–26 in) and used for balance when they jump distances up to 5 meters (16.4 feet).
forest/savanna
A very common and mischievous primate than can become aggressive. There were only 2 warning signs in the park, one warning not to litter and the other warning not to feed the monkeys. Most of the visitors to the Baluran national park that I saw, all local, fed the monkeys, sometimes right in front of the park rangers. This has caused the monkeys to be bold and fearless, which is never a good thing.
