Gannets are sea birds that breed in the UK and arrive between January and leave in August. Adults are large and bright white with black wingtips. They are distinctively shaped with a long neck and long pointed beak, long pointed tail, and long pointed wings. They are only found in five places in the UK mainly the coastal areas of Scotland.
Seen at Bempton cliffs on the East coast of Yorkshire, a site owned and maintained by the RSPB and home to the largest gannet colony in the UK.
although there are hundreds of breeding pairs at this site they are still listed in Britain as an amber species by the RSPB due to them only being found in 5 places in the whole of the UK.
