Noctuid Moth

Description:

This large moth of 3 cm in length had a remarkable purple sheen reflecting from it's scales when rotated. I would love to see what colors other insects can see from their far greater spectal vision. Family Noctuidae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
