Emberiza flaviventris
Size 15–16 cm. The sexes are very similar, but females may have a buff tone to the white head markings and browner head stripes, and the back may have dark streaks. Young birds are duller and paler than the females.
At an almost dried out waterhole surrounded with woodland.
This species is found in a variety of open woodlands. Flavigaster favours acacia steppe and savanna. Egg-laying season is from September-April, peaking from October-December. It lays 2-5 eggs, which are incubated solely by the female for about 12-13 days. The chicks are fed by both parents on a diet of insects and seeds, leaving the nest after about 13-17 days.
