Leaf Miner

Description:

This little Leaf Miner wandered around and around in circles between the layers of a leaf, eating and growing. When it reached maximum size it migrated upwards for several centimeters and then formed it's pupa. You can see the exit hole and tiny dots of excrement within the tunnel.

Habitat:

On a bush under the San Cristobal Bridge on the Highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 15, 1,500 meters.
