Gemsbok

Oryx gazella

Description:

The Gemsbok is a large antelope native to the arid regions of Southern Africa. They are the largest species in the Oryx genus, and stand about 1.2 m at the shoulder.

Habitat:

We saw this beautiful chap in the Karoo ~ they are usually very shy and run when you are at all close, but this one, although wary, seemed content to keep an eye on us.
