Butorides virescens
The green heron is a short stocky heron (16-22 in.) with a blue-green back and rusty red neck and chest. Dark green crest. Short legs, normally yellow, but turn bright orange during breeding season. This is a spotting of a juvenile because of its blue-gray back and white-streaked chest and neck.
While sitting on a bench at one of the ponds at Kinder Farm Park in Millersville, Maryland, this juvenile green heron landed on the platform and then on a piece of debris in the pond. Enjoyed watching and taking its picture.

Thanks Maria dB for the comment. The second picture of the mohawk is when the green heron became surprised when it realized that someone was taking its picture.
Nice series - looks like this juvenile was sporting a mohawk in the second photo!
