Gadwall

Description:

Gadwall ranges the world over except in South America and Australia, yet it is not a very common duck. In North America it is more abundant in the central plains and the Wets. The Gadwell has a few good field marks for identification: the male is gray, black around the tail, and has much white in the wing speculum (and a puffy head). The female is browner and similar to Pintails and Widgeons. White underbelly.
