My friend I was with told me she thought it was a salt marsh moth and in my head I didn't believe her because like you said, very far away from salt water. So I didn't even bother looking it up haha. Definitely misleading :) Thanks for the help as always!

This is one of the most misleading common names! I've seen this at my home, and I'm about 15 miles from the nearest freshwater marsh. Like many arctiines, it is a generalist.
