Bagmoth Larva

Cebysa leucotelus

Description:

Looking like a piece of dirt on a tree trunk, this 15 mm larva in a bag of silk encrusted with leaf and other matter, was moving quite quickly. The second photo shows where the larva had been nibbling at lichen growing on the bark of the tree.

Habitat:

In a suburban garden

Notes:

The adults of this lichen eating larva are quite interesting.
