Bagworm Moth

Psychidae

Description:

I am pretty sure that all of the Bagworm Moths that I have spotted, prior to this one, were seen on the underside of a leaf or twig with the "bag" hanging down. As you can see, this one is on the upper surface of a leaf and is moving around with the bag in an almost vertical position. I assume this is simply because it is young and the bag, being small, is light enough to allow this freedom of movement.

Habitat:

Spotted in our backyard on an unidentified broad leafed plant, possibly in the Family Araceae.
