Tussock Moth

Orgyia sp.

Description:

Violet coloured moth with brown patterns on the wings. Furry.

Habitat:

Sitting on the richly coloured wall of the monastery near the tourist town of Ravangla, Sikkim.

Notes:

October is not the best time for moth-ing and it was raining too, yet I did get to photograph some moths I had not seen before. Apart from the lily moth Polytela I have not seen a moth in this colour. Can anyone tell me its name, please?
