Fallen bark looper (♂)

Gastrophora henricaria

Description:

Moth. Wingspan 50mm. Dorsal view shows fore wings a plain buff colour with two small spots and two fine dark lines and hind wings with rich chrome yellow and black patterns. The ventral view reveals plain hind wings and dramatic yellow and black on the fore wings - opposite. Speckled legs were notable. This one has highly pectinate antennae being male.

Habitat:

In a lit BBQ area at a local nature reserve.

Notes:

At last one which cooperated giving hind wing views and ventral shots... thanks little guy.
