Thanks for the help with ID, everyone! I will go back and see exactly what type of trees were growing on the hill top... then I should have it nailed down! Seems the different types are dependent on trees in the area!
Some were growing singly, and others were in a cluster...
No ideas out there for this little fungus?

Yes, it was on ground... growing in the duff and moss. It was the only one like it we saw in a 2 mile hike in to the woods.
