PKY Tree Tour
PKY students will help identify native trees on the PKY campus. We will learn about what foresters use to identify trees and use tools like tree identification books, LeafSnap, and Project Noah to help us document and map what we can. We will build upon these basic information resources as we grow along side these trees K-12.

PK Yonge is a K-12 Developmental Research School located on the University of Florida campus. Opened in the 1950s, its campus is a beautiful intersection of natural habitat and architecture related to the University of Florida's main campus. In addition to several wooded areas, a creek runs right through the center of campus. When PK Yonge's campus was being developed, it benefited from the oversight of Noel Lake. Noel Lake served as superintendent of grounds and was a landscape architect at the University of Florida for 33 years. Known as an advocate for using native plants that require less watering and care, Noel Lake literally changed the landscape of the University of Florida campus. For this reason, the PK Yonge campus has a treasure trove of native species of trees and is a classroom in and of itself.
