The Philippine Islands are blessed with an incredibly diverse flora. During the 19th century when the Philippines was still a colony of Spain, a renowned Spanish friar and botanist named Francisco Manuel Blanco published a book with the title "Flora de Filipinas". It is an extensive record with wonderful illustrations of plants that he and his colleagues had found during their stay in Manila and the surrounding provinces. This mission is intended to serve as a commemoration for the said historically and scientifically significant book.
