Backyard Birds and Animals
Go into your backyard or local green space and quietly observe the entire area for a few minutes trying not to move excessively. Carefully begin to look on the ground for insects and small animals, on the leaves of shrubs and bushes for more insects, and lastly look upwards into the trees for any signs of life. When you do see a living organism and take a picture and upload the photo to this mission. You can also download the free app to your phone.

The Purpose of this mission is to engage students in the state of Maryland, and the surrounding areas for meaningful observations of animals, specifically birds in the backyards and neighboring regions. The rational of this pursuit is to get kids and their families to notice nature and record with pictures of organisms in their community.
