Hong Shui Village and Wang Xia Township are almost completely surrounded by a ring of mountains, making this one of the most isolated places on Hainan Island. The biodiversity of this remote area has not been completely characterized, so there is a good chance that there may be some unique species only found there. Changes in the species over time can also tell us more about the impact of changes in the land - rubber plantations, pesticide use, climate change. We will make a start at recording the tremendous biodiversity of this tropical site, using Project Noah to help identify and verify our sightings.
