Eastern Fence Lizard

Sceloporus undulatus

Description:

Very small fence lizard. Has a little blue under its chin, but I couldn't get a good picture of that.

Habitat:

Tree in my yard, where it blended in with the bark.

Notes:

This little guy scurried away from me at first, but as I was taking pictures of it I gradually got closer, and finally it got used to me. I caught it pretty easily (and gently!). It sat there on my hand for a long time, basking in the sun while I admired it. When I returned it to its tree, it tried to climb up my arm!

Thanks! This little critter totally made my day. Once it realized I wasn't a danger, it was content to bask in the sun while it sat on my palm. It was a neat experience.
