Thermopsis

Description:

A tall, flowering plant I found in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. It is in the pea family and widespread in many western states, blooming shortly after the snow melts in May to form colonies until August.

Habitat:

Subalpine forest, at an altitude between eight and ten thousand feet (2,438-3048 meters).
