Kaup's Caecilian

Potomotyphlus kaupii

Description:

Probably the strangest and most unique clade of amphibians, this is a Kaup's caecillian at the Sedgwick County Zoo. I couldn't even really find any info on this species as a whole, just caecillians in general. They're limbless aquatic amphibians with lungs that absorb oxygen out of the water through their skin and will sometimes wiggle in place to create water flow.

Habitat:

This caecillian is found in South America.
