Pink Mimosa

Mimosa borealis

Description:

Intricately branched, thorny shrub, 3-6 ft. Thorns are recurved prickles, or 'catclaws'. Fluffy, ball-shaped pink blossoms in spring.

Habitat:

Full sun, part shade. Grows on dry limestone soils. Takes heat and drought.

Notes:

Fragrant blossoms attract many types of butterflies, and it's seeds are eaten by birds.
