Red-Green Peat Moss

Sphagnum warnstorfii

Description:

Plants small to medium-sized, upright, 6-15 cm, loosely packed to form soft carpets and small hummocks. Purplish red in bright sunlight to dark green in shade, but typically a mixture of red and green.

Habitat:

Nutrient-rich sites, such as open fens and white cedar swamps (this was in cedars)
