The Sensitive Fern loses it leaves in the winter. The fronds die back after the first fall frost. Only its spore-bearing stalk remains standing. Its capsules (shown) contain hundreds of spores. Ferns reproduce by spores rather than seeds (non-flowering plants). In dry weather the spores will be dispersed by wind/
