Manatee Grass

Description:

Photo take at -35 ft near a Coral reef. Manatee grass has thin, cylindrical, green leaves ranging from 1-18 inches long. Manatee grass uses an extensive network of runners to expand and form grass beds. Manatee grass can grow between 3-40 feet deep, and is often seen mixed in beds with other sea grasse

Habitat:

Found on sandy bottom, sand/rubble mixed bottom Florida Bahamas and the Caribbean sea.

Notes:

As suggested by the name, manatee grass is the food source of choice for the Florida manatee.
