A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Sterarrhinus serripes
You're welcome! I loved looking at all the beautiful weevil illustrations when I was a grad student. I just recently remembered that web site existed!
Wow! Thanks a lot oxyjack, i didn't know about Biologia Centrali-America it's amazing! About the technical description, what can i say, i'm just a first year biology student and my knowledge about insects is pretty poor, so as you can imagine i understood almost nothing.
Thanks a lot for the ID and the link i think it's gonna be very helpful
Here's a link to the Biologia Centrali-America. It covers plants too! http://www.sil.si.edu/digitalcollections...
There is also a technical description here (http://www.botanicus.org/primeocr/mbgser...). I have enough training in weevil taxonomy to follow the description. What characters I can actually see in your photo correspond nicely with the description.
Wow, I think I may have found it! Are you familiar with the Biologia Centrali-America? It's an amazing collection of books that cover many of the animals of Central America. There are 4 or 5 volumes dedicated to the weevils alone!
